Frequently asked questions

What is the best 3-day Alicante itinerary?

Day 1: Old Town, castle, tapas in El Barrio. Day 2: Playa de San Juan by TRAM, MARQ museum, sunset at the Explanada. Day 3: Tabarca island (May–October) or bus to Guadalest.

Can I do Alicante in a day from a cruise?

Yes. From the port: 5-min walk to Explanada → Old Town → free elevator to Santa Bárbara → arroz for lunch → back on board. Skip the beach unless you have >6h ashore.

Should I rent a car for Alicante?

No for the city (tram + walking cover everything). Yes if you want inland day trips (Guadalest, Fuentes del Algar, Villajoyosa).

What time do restaurants open in Alicante?

Lunch 13:30–16:00, dinner 20:30–23:00. Kitchens rarely serve mains outside those windows. Tapas bars are more flexible from 19:00.

Is Tabarca worth a day?

Yes April–October. Boat is 45 min from the port of Alicante, island is tiny (2 km²), beach + one long lunch + walk around the walls = perfect day.

What's the single-best sunset spot?

The walls of Santa Bárbara castle, west side, looking down at the port and Postiguet.
